5 Favourites from Craft Council’s Natalie Melton

May 22, 2026

Hello!

I hope this finds you well.

With only 3 Weeks until Craft Festival Bovey Tracey, we asked Natalie Melton, Executive Director of Craft Council to choose her 5 Favourites from this year’s line up.

Scarlweaves

I am excited to see the whole start up section – there are some really terrific new businesses here making interesting work, but I was particularly drawn to scarl weaves and some of the commissioned pieces that I spied on her website, her work shows a sense of restraint that really lets the skill of weaving and the natural materials come to the fore.

Takahashi McGill –

There is such a deep respect for material in their work, and I love the dialogue between the husband and wife duo and how their complementary skills seems to elevate the beauty of each piece.
Hilda Carr Pottery

I was drawn to the calm, tactile nature of Hilda’s work – as well as the range of pieces she has on offer – particularly the oh-so-covetable lamp bases  – just divine.

Making Space to Make.

I’m an absolute basket addict – I cannot travel anywhere without returning home with a local basket – so will be making a beeline straight here to snap up one of these willow beauties.

Princetown Press

These letterpress and botanical ink prints are simply so poetic, and so original.
