From my workshop in West Wales, the furniture that I produce is inspired by country and vernacular furniture, using traditional techniques and hand tools to produce beautiful contemporary pieces that celebrate the timber and will become heirlooms of the future.
I am currently making a range of tables, benches, chairs and stools. All pieces are built from sustainably sourced British timber using traditional hand cut joints and hand finishing techniques to achieve a welcoming tactile finish. Where possible I source local timber and look for timber with character and interesting grain patterns. Final designs are often influenced by the available timber size and grain pattern. Items are finished with oils and paints that enhance the natural beauty of the timber. Burning and ebonising techniques are used on some items to produce a strong black colour as well as added texture.
