Nancy Úna Textiles

I trained in constructive textiles at Carmarthen School of Art, where I began work in this style, exploring the tension between chaos and control.
I create handwoven, naturally dyed textiles that sit between tradition and experimentation. I weave in silk, wool, and linen, with colours derived from natural dyes.My work draws inspiration from the structured geometry of traditional Welsh blanket motifs, which I contrast with a more intuitive, ikat-inspired dyeing process. I begin by applying colour freely to a warp without a finite plan, before weaving in methodically thought out patterns. This allows for interesting variation and unpredictability, each piece is different.
