Ceramics at Craft Festival Wales 2026

August 3, 2026

Hello!

I hope all is well with you?

Ceramics is my first love. It was a visit to Aberystwyth Arts Centre in the late 80s that introduced me to the work of John Maltby and I’ve been hooked every since.

Working with clay is a soothing yet often frustrating experience. You can spend so much time perfecting a particular piece, for the work to be totally ruined in the kiln.

Likewise, the firing process can add something unexpected and wonderful. With this in mind, I am eternally impressed and excited by makers who work with clay. You have my deepest respect.

You can meet some wonderful potters and ceramic artists at Craft Festival Wales in September.

See you there.

Helo ‘na!

Cerameg yw fy nghariad cyntaf. Yn ystod ymweliad â Chanolfan Gelfyddydau Aberystwyth ar ddiwedd yr 80au, des ar draws gwaith John Maltby a dwi wedi cael fy swyno ers hynny.

Mae gweithio gyda chlai yn brofiad lleddfol ond yn aml mae’n un rhwystrol hefyd. Gallwch dreulio cymaint o amser yn perffeithio darn penodol, ac yna mae’r gwaith yn cael ei ddifetha yn yr odyn. Ar y llaw arall, gall y broses danio ychwanegu rhywbeth annisgwyl a rhyfeddol. Oherwydd hyn, rwy’n edmygu ac yn cael fy nghyffroi bob amser gan wneuthurwyr sy’n gweithio gyda chlai. Rydych yn ennill fy mharch dyfnaf.

Bydd cyfle i chi gwrdd â chrochenyddion ac artistiaid ceramig anhygoel yng Ngŵyl Grefft Cymru ym mis Medi.

Fe’ch gwelwn chi yno.
