7 Days Until Craft Festival Bovey Tracey 2025

May 27, 2025

Hello!

Hope this finds you very well? There is just 7 Days until Craft Festival Bovey Tracey’s 21st Anniversary.

There is so much to look forward this year.

I am hugely looking forward to meeting the makers from the Heritage Crafts Tent. I am in awe of the work that Heritage Crafts do and am delighted that Mary Lewis and Daniel Carpenter will be hosting makers at Craft Festival from the newly published Red List of Endangered Craft.

And if you buy your tickets in advance, you have the opportunity to vote for your favourite maker from Craft Festival. A link will be sent to you over the weekend of the Festival to vote for the People’s Award.

You can buy your tickets in advance here or in person at Make Southwest in Bovey Tracey.

We asked Daniel to choose his 5 Favourites and here they are.

See you next week,
Best wishes,
Sarah James MBE

Wolfram Lohr

Wolfram showcases exceptional craftsmanship through his timeless leather goods, where traditional techniques and quality materials culminate in beautifully functional and durable accessories and homewares.

Bert the Potter

Bert creates minimal stoneware pottery that enriches daily routines and spaces by balancing functional design with a natural, sculptural aesthetic.

Felix the Wood
Felix appeared with me on BBC Radio Cornwall earlier this year for a feature on the value of heritage craft skills. Not only is he one of the finest examples of the resurgence of wooden spoon carving in the last ten years, he’s also an eloquent advocate for the section.

Flax Project CIC
Flax working enters the Red List of Endangered Crafts in 2025 but the story is one of hope rather than despair. Its reemergence is particularly timely considering the need to explore the possibilities of local, sustainable fibre production to counteract the environmental devastation of fast fashion.

Llio James
Llio demonstrated for us at our recent Celebration of Heritage Crafts in Wales event, her work being the quintessential example of balancing traditional methods with a contemporary sensibility, to produce work that everyone covets.
