I make small and large products from local North Wales hardwoods, using as much of each tree as possible, from canopy to trunk. My work is inspired by the life of the tree and the elements that shape it. Longevity is important — I aim to create pieces that will be loved, talked about, and passed on. I work primarily with local trees, transforming natural forms into usable sculptural pieces that combine organic shapes with details of time and nature. Each piece responds to the timber’s character, emphasising its grain, knots, and texture, exploring time, growth, and the relationship between material and human intervention. I also challenge how wood is finished while keeping the raw features of the tree.
I studied 3D Design at Manchester Metropolitan University, graduating in 2000, and have been making daily since. For the last 15 years, I have focused primarily on local wood as both inspiration and material, blending classical sculptural approaches with a deep connection to nature.
