Carolyn Sara Designs

Fuelled by my obsession with colour and a compulsion to make. I knit bright & bold pieces using vintage knitting machines in my signature patterns using traditional fair isle techniques.
My obsession with knitting began at 8 years old when I knitted a stripy scarf for my beloved stuffed toy, however it wasn’t until I studied fashion design at Northumbria University, specialising in knitwear that I truly fell in love with knitting and discovered the endless possibilities a strand of yarn can create. My Persian heritage has influenced my love for daring colour combinations & geometric patterns. I have always had a fascination with the 1920’s, particularly Art Deco architecture, which inspires many of my patterns.
All pieces are made from merino lambswool which is spun & dyed in an independent mill in Yorkshire.
