The Repair Shop chooses 5 Favourites from Craft Festival
Written: 02 June 2023
Hi!
If you love The Repair Shop, you will have seen QEST Ambassador and Silversmith expert, Brenton West. He has repaired over 100 items since he joined the show in 2017. Brenton visited our Craft Festival in Cheltenham earlier this year and I took the opportunity to ask him to choose his 5 Favourites from Bovey Tracey. Read on to find out more.
There are just 7 days until we open the doors of our 19th Craft Festival and it's bursting at the seams with over 200 makers, workshops for all ages, demonstrations, films screenings, street theatre, storytelling, live music and great food in the heart of Bovey Tracey from June 9-11.
Book your Craft Festival tickets in advance and save and you can also buy your tickets in-person at Make South West in Bovey Tracey.
See you next week!
Best wishes,
Sarah
There is still time to book a workshop, but be quick as lots have sold out already. You can weave willow, wood carving, book binding, paper cutting, print making and more CLICK HERE to book.
Loucinda Nims
I often look at the pieces that designer/makers are turning out and think ‘that is a lot of work’. I appreciate Loucinda’s work because I know how long some of her pieces take to create. I really like the designs and look of her work.
Amanda Ross
In my spare time I sometimes like to paint flowers. Amanda’s pictures (especially the originals) are certainly something that I would hang on my wall.
Hendricke Barz-Meltzer
I love the look of gold and silver together. Using matted silver and the Keum-Boo technique of applying gold is really tricky. These pieces demonstrate these skills well. If I wore jewellery, this is the sort of thing I would wear.
Virginia Graham
I never miss the Pottery Throwdown and know how pots are made and decorated. These pieces of ceramic stand out. The slab built vessels and almost ‘decoupage’ decoration look fantastic.
Brett Payne
What can you say about Brett’s work? He has been at the forefront of silversmithing manufacture in the UK for as long as I can remember. The contemporary functional designs make the silversmithing heritage of this country continue in the 21st century.
