Merry Christmas and Thank You
Written: 19 December 2019
It's our last day in the office and from myself, Nina, Fran And Kate, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas. We appreciate every person that has supported our Festivals by visiting, engaging and hopefully investing in beautifully made craft. To all the incredible makers and tutors who make our events so very special, a sincere thank you.

Our Community Fund and Young Person Award
We are a non-profit and have we have supported local charities for many years. This year, we decided to open a fund to receive applications from local non-profit and volunteer organisations in the Bovey Tracey Area. In June, we awarded funding to Bovey Tracey Primary School Parents and Teachers Association, Bovey Tracey Swimming Pool, Plastic Free Bovey and Bovey Futures. Next year's Community Fund will be open for applications in the New Year.
We also want to encourage as many young people as possible to pursue a life of making. We host workshops for children in all our Festivals and this year alone, over 1500 young people enjoyed making. It is a a very important part of our strategy to give children the opportunity to learn through making and in July, we gave our first Young Craftsperson Award to Blackpool School pupil, Matilda Slee.
National Tree Planting Week
Earlier in the year, we asked Bovey Tracey Town Council if we could plant some trees, ideally in Mill Marsh Park. We are passionate about reducing waste and the environmental impact of Craft Festival. We've banned single use plastic, no drinks are sold in plastic bottles, encouraged visitors to bring re-useable cups for drinks, we work with Devon Contract Waste to ensure all our waste is recycled, we re-use as much signage as possible and we use LED bulbs for lighting, which has more than halved our energy consumption. But, no matter what we do, we will be producing carbon that we want to offset. In November, during National Tree Planting Week, we planted 2 mature sycamores with the plan to plant 2 more each year. Bovey Tracey Town Council's Park Wardens, Roger and Pete prepared the ground and the trees are proudly standing in Mill Marsh Park. Thanks goes to Town Clerk, Mark Wells for sourcing the trees and to Bovey Tracey Town Council for allowing the trees to be planted.
Looking forward to 2020
