In the window, Vinegar and Brown Paper
Written: 27 April 2016
Our new Window Showcase has been revealed! With a nod to Victorian apothecaries, our Craft Festival Shop window in Bovey Tracey is now proudly presenting a selection of work by Andy Poplar of Vinegar & Brown Paper.
Andy Poplar etches new and vintage glass - giving new life, humour and sentiment to apothecary bottles, decanters, mirrors, milk bottles and more. Drawing on his many years of work in advertising, Andy makes his humorous and contemplative work from his studio in North Yorkshire.
It's great to already see the positive impact of his work on our visitors as they can't help but stop and smile. An apothecary bottle of 'Sarcastic Venom' has just been snapped up by a former chemist and an 'Elixir of Youth' will soon be presented as a birthday gift! Pint glasses half full or half empty, traditional chemistry mixers used for G'n'T, test tubes with a dose of common sense and a bottle to store your creative juices…Andy's clever use of well known terms and phrases make these pieces perfect presents for a friend or yourself!
Vinegar & Brown Paper won the award for Best Stand At 2015’s Craft Festival. The judges and visitors were wowed by Andy’s style and his skills as a wordsmith as well as a maker! If you're in the area do come and enjoy our window. All work is available to purchase with prices starting at £15. You can also meet Andy at the Festival next month.
