An MBE for Services to Craft
Written: 31 October 2023
With just 2 weeks to go, we are very much looking forward to visiting the beautiful town of Cheltenham and our Craft Festival in the Town Hall.
Last Friday, I travelled up to London with my family to receive my MBE medal at Buckingham Palace. It was a very special experience. There was beautiful music and countless people in ceremonial dress, even a Beefeater was present!
We were warmly welcomed and I loved meeting all the people that were receiving Honours on that day.
There were people from all walks of life, from local community campaigners, military personnel, charity workers, NHS staff and people who support the arts via dance, literature, broadcasting and in my case, craft.
I could take 3 guests with me into the Palace. I was very grateful for the support of my husband, Andy, my daughter Ella and sister Susan.
We met up afterwards with the rest of the James Clan and went for a lovely meal to celebrate together.
My thanks goes to all the makers who supplied pieces for me to wear. My hardworking team, Nina Fox, Kate Martin and Susan James, who made all of this possible.
Hat by Sally Ann-Proven, necklace by Gilly Langton, earrings by Daphne Krinos, dress by Sigrid Verschraeghen, cape by Teresa Green, ring by Rebecca Burt, bag by Bonner Leather Gilly, Daphne, Rebecca, Teresa and Sigrid and all members of Find a Maker.
I will bring my medal to Craft Festival Cheltenham November 17-19th, so I look forward to showing it to you then.
